An airtight container is generally made from clear plastic and comes with a lid that captures the contents and fits so perfectly that surrounding air can not enter the unit. Not all containers are airtight so be sure yours is, if you need them to be.

You also have glass jars with screw top lids which can also be airtight. These are generally used for jams, pastes, tomato sauce and a host of other foods.

Finally you have your zipper and vacuum seal airtight bags which you may find useful. These are bags which are used to store clothes mainly. These allow you go suck all the air from the bags, place your clothes in them and then mold/shape the entire contents inside the bag in any way you wish. This saves you tonnes of space and will cut down on storage costs!
